Impressive Dane Wozniacki will bid for her third title of the year and her second in barely a month after a tough 6-3 4-6 6-2 win over Italian Flavia Pennetta.

Wozniacki, who held her nerve after struggling to find rhythm on her serve in the first set, said: “I wasn’t as tired as I was yesterday. I played really well and tried to keep the pressure on.”

Martinez Sanchez is aiming to add to her first tour title win in Bogota in February, after overcoming Argentina’s Gisela Dulko 7-5 6-4.

The 26-year-old Spaniard, ranked 54 in the world, played the pressure points well against Dulko – who had saved match points to beat Sorana Cirstea and Dominika Cibulkova in previous rounds.

Martinez Sanchez said: “I’m very happy to be through to the final and I look forward to coming back out tomorrow to play.”
