After an impressive end to the 2025 season, Felix Auger-Aliassime has struggled to recapture his best form.
The Canadian star, 25, looked to be a potential challenger to the dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner after achieving some impressive results in New York and Turin at the end of last year.
However, Auger-Aliassime has underwhelmed since winning the Montpellier Open title and reaching the Rotterdam Open final in February.
How would you rate Felix Auger-Aliassime’s chances of winning a Grand Slam in 2026?
The 25-year-old has suffered multiple early exits in tournaments, losing to the likes of Terence Atmane and Alexander Blockx.
On Saturday, the Canadian was on the wrong side of another upset, losing to Mariano Navone in Rome.
Felix Auger-Aliassime is not playing at the level needed to win Roland Garros
Felix Auger-Aliassime is one of the most talented players on the ATP Tour.
The Canadian possesses an excellent serve and forehand, and the movement to match the ball-striking of almost any individual on the circuit.

However, to the disappointment of his fans, his results on clay courts this year do not inspire much faith in the Canadian’s ability to win Roland Garros.
Of course, when analysing Auger-Aliassime’s recent form, one must exclude his most recent defeat to Mariano Navone.
The Canadian struggled with a leg issue throughout the second set against Navone, leaving him unable to walk at points during the second-set tiebreak.
It would be wholly unfair to scrutinise this performance when Auger-Aliassime was physically hampered.
Felix Auger-Aliassime’s 2026 ATP tournament results
- Australian Open – first round – retired against Nuno Borges
- Montpellier – champion – defeated Adrian Mannarino in the final
- Rotterdam – runner-up – beaten by Alex de Minaur in the final
- Dubai Tennis Championships – semi-finals – beaten by Daniil Medvedev
- Indian Wells – round of 16 – defeated by Arthur Fils
- Miami – round of 32 – beaten by Terence Atmane
- Monte Carlo – quarter-finals – beaten by Jannik Sinner
- Madrid – round of 32 – beaten by Alexander Blockx
- Rome – round of 64 [first match] – defeated by Mariano Navone
However, one must note the Canadian’s struggles throughout the past couple of months.
In America, Auger-Aliassime was defeated by a resurgent Arthur Fils in Indian Wells, and beaten by unseeded Terence Atmane in Miami.
He bounced back well in Monte Carlo, defeating Marin Cilic and Casper Ruud before losing to world number one Jannik Sinner.
Can anyone now stop Jannik Sinner from winning Roland Garros after Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal?
If yes, who?
However, the Canadian then suffered another early exit in Madrid, losing to youngster Alexander Blockx.
With the form Auger-Aliassime is currently displaying – combined with his most recent physical ailment – it is simply difficult to envisage the Canadian winning a Grand Slam title anytime soon, let alone the French Open.
Felix Auger-Aliassime’s big opportunity in Paris
Last year, the Canadian was stunned in the French Open first round, losing 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 3-6 to Italian Matteo Arnaldi.

This meant that Auger-Aliassime only earned 10 points out of a possible 2,000 at the event.
Auger-Aliassime is currently ranked fifth on the ATP Tour. However, he is set to fall one place to world number six following his loss to Mariano Navone in Rome.
However, a deep run in Paris this year could see the Canadian make a significant climb up the ATP rankings.
Auger-Aliassime’s past form in Paris has been mixed, to say the least. He has exited in the first round on four occasions, and reached the fourth round twice.
