WATCH: Nick Kyrgios hits new trick shot in entertaining victory

Nick Kyrgios made a winning return to the ATP Tour with an entertaining straight sets triumph over Kevin Anderson at the Atlanta Open.

The world number 58 prevailed 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 against the 35-year-old South African in the opening round of the hard court ATP 250 tournament.

The Australian edged a tight first set on a tiebreak, before securing the only break of the match for 5-3 in the second en route to the win.

Kyrgios engaged the Atlanta crowd with an array of trick shots, including an underarm ‘tweener’ serve which won him the point.

The 26-year-old did not face a break point and fired 15 aces to just a single double fault. He made 68% of his first serves – winning 86% of the points – as well as taking 60% of points behind his second delivery.

Playing in his first tournament since Wimbledon, Kyrgios will face Britain’s Cameron Norrie – champion in Los Cabos last week – in the second round.

The former world number 13 won the Atlanta Open in 2016 – defeating John Isner in the final.
