WATCH: Andreescu slips and slides to shock loss at Wimbledon

The world No. 7 became the latest top seed to fall in the tournament as she struggled on the lush Wimbledon grass.

Bianca Andreescu came into Wimbledon having won just one main draw match on grass in her career, coming last week at Eastbourne over American Christina McHale.

The 2019 US Open champion found it difficult to find her footing on the lawn against Alize Cornet, as many players have been seen taking a tumble in the first few days of this year’s Championships.

Cornet overcame the Canadian in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, in just over 80 minutes on-court.

Andreescu made 34 unforced errors over just two sets as she tried to force the issue against the Frenchwoman, while Cornet was controlled with just seven unforced errors of her own.

Andreescu is having a tough season so far this year after her comeback from injury, progressing no further than the second round all three Grand Slams, and being forced to retire in the Miami Open final.

Her match with Cornet marked the first time she had made the Wimbledon main draw since 2017, when she played as a 17-year-old qualifier, losing in the first round.
