Victoria Mboko enjoyed an outstanding debut season on the WTA Tour after announcing herself at the Canadian Open.
Mboko ended her season with a win in Hong Kong to end her breakout year with two titles and a ranking inside the top 20.
The 19-year-old heads into the 2026 season as an outside bet of capturing her first Grand Slam, and there’s every chance she could continue to climb the rankings.
Mboko has shared details of what she’s learned from her breakout season, as well as the lessons she’s been given from other players.

Victoria Mboko reveals the warning she received from other players
Mboko went through a difficult spell after her landmark win in Montreal, suffering four losses on the bounce in Asia.
The star has detailed her issues with the lengthy season and divulged what other players taught her in 2025.
Speaking to Olympics.com, “I think the most important thing I’ve taken away was just to enjoy the process so much.
“I always used to remember so many players saying that the tour can be very long and it could be lonely and there’s a lot of things that come with it. I think as I start to play more of these tournaments, I start to realize what people are saying more and understanding.
“But I think it’s really important for me to have a good support system around me – people who I’m close to and I’m able to find a lot of joy in traveling, and playing these tournaments and going to different countries every week and competing all the time with not having much rest.
“So I think that’s the kind of process that I need to adapt to more. And I think that’s the part I enjoy as much, too, because it’s just, like, your job. I don’t really think of anything to achieve.”
Mboko also hinted at the broader goals she wants to achieve in the sport following her breakout season this term.
She added: “Of course the big achievements – to be winning a Grand Slam or to be top 10 – those are obviously milestones that I’ve had since I was a young girl.
“But things can happen – just like how I never knew that I was going to be 22 in the world. I never knew all of this was going to happen. So I just like to let things play into perspective and I always try my best.”

The teenager’s campaign was ended by Coco Gauff, but her taste of the biggest tournaments in the world was started on the clay.
Mboko impressed at Roland Garros, beating Lulu Sun and Eva Lys in the main draw to earn her first Grand Slam victories. She would follow those up with another Grand Slam win at Wimbledon against Magdalena Frech.
That would provide Mboko with the launching pad to conduct her dream run at the Canadian Open, which saw her defeat Naomi Osaka, Elena Rybakina, and Gauff at her home tournament.
