Victoria Mboko has played six tournaments so far this year, but her season has been slightly derailed after the Miami Open.

The Canadian has enjoyed some impressive results so far in 2026, which has helped her reach a career ranking high of world number nine on the WTA Tour.

Mboko matched a Serena Williams record in Miami as she reached the quarter-final stages of the Masters event.

The teenager was set to represent Canada at the Billie Jean King Cup next, but she’s withdrawn from the competition.

Victoria Mboko shares message after Billie Jean King Cup withdrawal

Mboko was set to play alongside Bianca Andreescu, Gabriela Dabrowski and Kayla Cross at the Billie Jean King Cup.

However, dental issues have forced the teenager to pull out of the away tie against Kazakhstan on indoor clay.

Who wins Sunday’s Miami Open final?

In a statement, Mboko said: “I am very sorry to have to withdraw from the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup tie in Kazakhstan.

“In recent days, I have experienced recurring dental pain and will need to remove my four wisdom teeth in the coming days.

“Given that, I am sadly unable to travel to Kazakhstan and will therefore miss this tie. There is no greater privilege than playing for and representing Canada – I wish the team the best of luck next week and I am very much looking forward to joining the team again later this year.”

Mboko has played five matches for Canada at the Billie Jean King Cup and she holds a 100% record, so she will be missed.

Victoria Mboko’s Billie Jean King Cup replacement has been confirmed

Ariana Arseneault has joined the Canadian team as a replacement for Mboko and she is set for her first appearance at the event.

Arseneault is currently ranked world number 453 in the WTA Tour singles rankings, although she holds a much higher spot in doubles.

Who is the better tennis pundit – John McEnroe or Andy Roddick?

Canada will play a significantly weakened Kazakhstan team, who will not be bolstered by Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina.

Instead, Anna Danilina, Yulia Putintseva, Zhibek Kulambayeva, Aruzhan Sagandykova, and Sonya Zhiyenbayeva have been called up for their nation.

The Qualifiers will take place at the Beeline Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan between Friday, April 10th and Saturday April 11th.
