Venus Williams lost her eighth consecutive match after tasting defeat against Diane Parry at Indian Wells.
Parry needed three sets to see off the tennis icon, defeating her 6-1 in the deciding set on Indian Wells’ main court.
Williams played her 110th Indian Wells match against Parry, but she faced the same outcome as she has all year with yet another loss.
The American has explained the reason why she has fallen to defeat in her past two appearances in Austin and Indian Wells.

Indian Wells was hit with extremely blustery conditions on day two of the event, which several players, including Williams, struggled to deal with.
Asked in her press conference, where she thinks her game is right now, Williams responded: “Well, I think today is not the kind of day that you want to assess. The conditions are impossible.

“Also, my match in Austin the conditions were impossible. I have played the last two matches in very difficult conditions. In Austin I refused to relent and change my game and I lost very quickly.”
Williams said she tried to combat the conditions at Indian Wells, but she still suffered the same fate against Parry.
“Today I tried to adjust. It’s not easy. You can’t trust anything that you do out there. So you should get out there and play in that wind and you’ll tell me too if you can create some magic or if you can be perfect or not.”
Williams has lost all four of her appearances in 2025, succumbing to first round defeats in Auckland, Hobart, the Australian Open, and now Indian Wells.

Williams is now the World No. 514 and she will likely crack the top 500 if she obtains one more wild card in 2026.
The star does not have another tournament confirmed after competing semi-regularly throughout the first three months of the season.
