Valentin Vacherot’s late-season run to the ATP top 30 has been one of the more inspiring stories in tennis in 2025.

The 26-year-old was ranked outside the top 200 before his dream run to the Shanghai Masters title in October.

The Monégasque produced incredible victories against Holger Rune, Novak Djokovic, and his cousin Arthur Rinderknech to write one of the more uplifting stories in the sport.

Vacherot proved his success was no fluke at the Paris Masters, where he also picked up victories against Jiri Lehecka, Rinderknech, and Cameron Norrie.

This could just be the beginning for Vacherot, who will receive seeded entry at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career at the Australian Open.

Valentin Vacherot sends a message after his breakout season

Vacherot has called time on his season with an Instagram message after starring in Shanghai, Vienna, and Paris in the past few weeks.

Taking to social media, the star wrote: “[I] still can’t put into words the feelings from the past month. From 204 to top 30 in one month… who would have believed?

“The ups and downs of last year and this season have been anything but easy, [but], in the end, all worth it to experience these moments.”

The star then looked ahead to next season, where his ranking will help him feature in some of the very best the ATP Tour has to offer.

“I can’t wait to start 2026 and play the tournaments I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid. For now, it’s time for a bit of rest and relaxation before pre-season and starting the year hungrier than ever. Beyond grateful for everyone by my side through everything from my family, friends, [and] sponsors.”

Until his Shanghai Masters triumph, Vacherot had not appeared in an ATP Tour final. The star’s only wins had come on the Challenger circuit, with his last victory coming at the Pune Challenger in February 2024.

The perk that Valentin Vacherot could obtain before 2025 finishes

While Vacherot has finished his season, he will still have half an eye on the ATP Tour rankings during the final tournaments of the year.

The top 30 of the after the Moselle Open and Hellenic Championship will receive guaranteed entry into every ATP 500 event in 2026 irrespective of a drop in the rankings.

That would be huge for Vacherot, but it’s not yet guaranteed for the current World No. 30.

Learner Tien is the only current star who could overtake the 26-year-old and he’s still fighting in the Moselle Open.

The young American currently occupies the World No. 35 position, but a win at the French tournament will lift him above Vacherot.

Tien is in the semi-finals of the tournament, where he will play lucky loser Vitaliy Sachko. Norrie and Lorenzo Sonego will play the winner of that match.
