“We can’t find excuses. We need to be enough critic with myself. That’s the only way to improve or that’s the only way that I understand you are able to find solutions.”
Rafael Nadal is out of the US Open after he lost to American Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round with the American calling it special.
The Spaniard struggled to find his rhythm and Tiafoe was able to close out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win with relative ease.
“I played unbelievable tennis but something special happened today,” Tiafoe said.
“He’s one of the greatest players of all time! I’ve had problems before, I didn’t have the maturity in these big matches. I’m feeling in a better place now.
“Honestly when I first came on the scene I wasn’t ready for it mentally and mature enough.
Furthermore, Frances Tiafoe was proud to usher in a ‘new era’ in men’s tennis after he beat Rafael Nadal in the fourth round of the US Open.
“Alcaraz is a great personality. Sinner. Myself. People get behind me. You know the American guys, Tommy, Fritz. There’s a ton of guys playing great tennis.” said Tiafoe adding:
“I don’t think it will be a big three. It will be like a big 12. There’s a bunch of guys playing great tennis. I think it’s good. For sure you’ll probably have someone who probably like will cement and be at the top. That’s still kind of happening. We’ll see who that person’s going to be. It’s cool to see a new era.”
