Tsonga and Nalbandian through to final

Hours after seeing Argentina’s Nalbandian battle hard to defeat Nikolay Davydenko 6-1 5-7 6-4 in the first semi-final, Frenchman Tsonga was able to breeze into Sunday’s showpiece with a routine 6-4 6-3 victory over 11th seed James Blake.

It means it will be a winner-takes-all showdown in two respects. Not only are both players going head to head for the title, they are also playing for the right to make the season-ending Masters Cup in Shanghai, which begins on November 9.

The winner will qualify automatically for the China showpiece by virtue of finishing seventh in the ATP Points Race, while the loser will see his season come to an end.
