Following her run at Roland Garros, Maja Chwalinska has set up her career for the foreseeable future.
After all, having entered the event without a long-term hotel booked, a clothing sponsor or that much prize money in her back pocket, she will depart Paris with her life totally changed.
The 24-year-old has more than earned this revolution though, with her eclectic and entertaining brand of tennis deservedly pushing her into the final.
Sadly, Mirra Andreeva simply had too much for her today, but Chwalinska seemed to be aware of that in her post-match assessment.
Now, attention must turn to the grass to truly capitalise on this run, where she will hope that Wimbledon can see sense over her participation.
Tim Henman provides Maja Chwalinska Wimbledon wildcard update
Given the way in which the ranking system works, Wimbledon will take the rankings for their main draw spots from those before Roland Garros.
Itβs a ridiculous system, and will therefore force Chwalinska to have to qualify for the third Grand Slam of the season, despite having just made the final in Paris.
Maja Chwalinska must surely now be given a Wimbledon wildcard! π
Speaking live on TNT Sports, Boris Becker pushed for Tim Henman to shed further light on this, with the British pundit laughing as he stumbled over his words.
However, he eventually claimed: βI think there is a pretty good chance! I think she will be a great inspiration for other players who are inside the top 200, who are in the qualifying.
βThey will be saying, well, if I keep putting in the hard yards and keep believing in myself, then you can have these exceptional results.
βThe confidence and money she takes away to reinvest in herself is incredible, and I am sure it is not the last we have seen of her.β
If Wimbledon do not hand Chwalinska a wildcard, there will surely be huge backlash from the tennis community. Becker certainly wonβt be happy, at the very least.
Boris Becker says what the future now holds for Maja Chwalinska
The legendary German would also add his verdict on the Polish starβs run, predicting what the future now holds for her.
Speaking before Henman, Becker claimed: βI hope she keeps it up. I thought today that she played too normally. She played like everyone else. She should stick to her unorthodox game, the tempo changes, the drop shots. She has to play surprising tennis, and that is what got her to the final.
How many Grand Slams does Mirra Andreeva win in her career? π
βI like her personality. She seems to be very down to earth. I hope she stays around. I think she is 25 in the world now.β
Then, after Henman had provided an update, the six-time major champion added: βOn grass it should be nice with the slicing and the drop shots that she does. On the hard courts itβs probably more difficult.β
