Toni Nadal, in particular, has outlined exactly how far he thinks Eala can go, speaking after that mesmeric Miami Open run.
During her time at that event, she beat a whole host of superstars, including Madison Keys, Jelena Ostapenko and Iga Swiatek, before Jessica Pegula cut her fairytale short.

However, that was enough to earn huge praise from Nadal, who will have had a hand in her early development, given she is a product of the Rafa Nadal Academy.
The legendary coach claimed: “For the academy and for me in particular, it’s a huge success.
“She’s the girl who’s been with us the longest. In all this time, there’s never been a single complaint from anyone, neither from her nor from her family. She’s shown she has great potential because it’s not easy to beat the world’s No. 2 and No. 5 in the same tournament.
“Once she gets her game right, she could be among the best in the world. She stood up to Swiatek and didn’t back down. Only at one point, at 2-0 in the second set, was she a little hesitant and needed to be more aggressive with her serve.”
Mats Wilander even argued that Eala reminded him of John McEnroe during this run too, marking further praise and a legendary comparison.
Alexandra Eala reflects on her breakthrough 2025 season
Speaking to Vogue earlier this month, Eala reflected with great fondness on an outstanding season for her.
After all, not only did she reach her maiden Masters 1000 semi-final, but she also made the final of another tour-level event, and propelled herself into the top 50 of the world rankings.
All of these achievements made her the first from the Philippines to accomplish them, as she also became the first to win a Grand Slam main draw match too.
What could stop Alexandra Eala from finishing 2026 inside the top 20?
Reviewing an overwhelmingly positive past 11 months, Eala admitted: “I’m so proud of myself and what I’ve accomplished.
“I’m [also] proud and grateful [to] the team and all the effort that they’ve put in. I’m just happy that, you know, they see results and that I can share this happiness with them also.”
Alas, she is not planning on resting on her laurels, adding: “[I’m] hungry to do even more and to work even harder.”
Eala sent a social media post reviewing her year too, in an emotional letter that expressed her pride after such a stunning campaign.
