Novak Djokovic avoided an upset in the Shanghai Masters quarter-finals to advance on Thursday.
The Serbian star, who has reached a record-extending 80th ATP Masters 1000 semi-final, advanced following a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Zizou Bergs.
Djokovic recently bested a record held by Roger Federer, and he will look to make more history when he plays Monegasque qualifier Valentin Vacherot in the semi-final.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion continues to dispel any preconceived ideas regarding his age, and he is now the clear favourite to win a fifth Shanghai Masters title.

Djokovic has been dominant at the tournament, losing just once before the semi-final stage.
Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Novak Djokovic in the 2019 Shanghai Masters quarter-finals
Novak Djokovic has competed at the Shanghai Masters 11 times, winning the tournament on four occasions.
During 10 of those 11 tournaments, Djokovic has reached the semi-final stage or better.
The only time Djokovic failed to reach the semi-finals was in 2019, when Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated the Serb.
Tsitsipas, seeded sixth, defeated top seed Djokovic 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Greek player would go on to lose in the semi-finals to Daniil Medvedev, who went on to capture the title.
Tsitsipas, formerly world number three, has since fallen to world number 25 following a period of poor form.
Djokovic has won his last 11 matches against Tsitsipas

The 24-time Grand Slam champion has won their 11 last meetings, dating back to the 2019 Paris Masters.
Djokovic holds a 12-2 lead over Tsitsipas, most recently defeating the Greek star at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Djokovic won the match 6-3, 7-6, before going on to win the gold medal.
