A number of high-profile stars competed in Barcelona alongside Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz this week, including Felix Auger-Aliassime, Lorenzo Musetti and Alex de Minaur.

Some of these stars have benefitted from strong runs in Monte Carlo, while others’ rankings have suffered after early exits.

Felix Auger-Aliassime has risen two places to the world number five spot following his performance in Monte Carlo.

The Canadian lost to Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals and subsequently gained 100 ATP ranking points.

Ben Shelton has also risen two places to world number six, despite not competing in any ATP events.

This is because both Alex de Minaur and Lorenzo Musetti surrendered ranking points in Monte Carlo.

De Minaur lost 200 points after being defeated by Valentin Vacherot in the quarter-finals, while Musetti – the 2025 Monte Carlo finalist – has seen his total fall by 640 points after losing to Vacherot in the second round.

Daniil Medvedev, who was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Matteo Berrettini in Monte Carlo, remains in the world number 10 spot.

Who was the world number one this time last year?

Following the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters, Jannik Sinner remained the world number one.

Sinner, who was serving a suspension at the time, would not return to action until the Italian Open, which took place in May.

Alcaraz, meanwhile, returned to the world number two spot after beating Lorenzo Musetti in the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters final.

Should Carlos Alcaraz hire another coach after his recent results?

If so, who should he hire? 🤔

Alcaraz, who overtook Alexander Zverev with his title triumph in Monaco, went on to reclaim the world number one spot from Sinner after beating the Italian in the 2025 US Open final.

Fast forward one year, and Alcaraz has the opportunity to immediately return to the world number one spot.

If Alcaraz wins the Barcelona Open this week, he will move 60 points ahead of Sinner in the ATP rankings.
