Jannik Sinner has produced arguably the best season of his career on the ATP Tour, winning multiple titles and holding the world number one spot for the majority of the year.

The Italian, who will look to win a third consecutive Australian Open title in January, won two Grand Slam titles this year, including a maiden triumph at the Wimbledon Championships.

The world number two ended the ATP Tour season by winning the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy. The 24-year-old defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final, 7-6, 7-5.

Sinner has become a popular figure amongst fans, respected for his calmness on court and friendly attitude off court.

Roger Federer won the ATP Fan Favourite award for 19 consecutive years

Jannik Sinner has won the ATP Fan Favourite award for a third consecutive season, following successes in 2023 and 2024.

The Italian has added to his list of honours: he won the Newcomer of the Year award in 2019 and was named the Most Improved Player of 2024.

While winning the Fan Favourite for a third straight year is certainly impressive, the feat pales in comparison to Roger Federer’s.

Federer, quite possibly the most popular player in tennis history, won the award 19 consecutive times between 2003 and 2021.

His stranglehold on the trophy was ended in 2022 by Rafael Nadal, who won the award for the first time in his career.

It is easy to understand why Federer won the award so many times before his retirement in 2022. Federer was the most popular player at almost every event he played during his career, even if the tournament was not being held in his home nation of Switzerland.

Federer transcended the usual notions associated with national pride and tribalism, bringing fans together across the globe.

However, whether he can be considered the greatest player of all time is debatable. After all, he won less Grand Slams during his career than Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic – his two greatest rivals.
