tennishead mag: June issue out now!

The June 2011 issue of tennishead magazine is in shops now folks, and with the clay season well underway and Roland Garros looming into view, we’ve gone a little crazy for the red stuff (and we aren’t ashamed to admit it.)
This month, we’ve dedicated 17 pages to all things Roland Garros – there’s a comprehensive fan’s guide to the second Grand Slam of the year, a run down of the top contenders for the men’s and women’s titles and an analysis (from eight experts in the game) of exactly why Rafael Nadal is so dominant on dirt.
Our big interviews this month feature Czech Tomas Berdych and Vera Zvonareva – both of whom are Grand Slam contenders hunting for that elusive first major – but the big name one-on-ones don’t stop there.
We sat down with charismatic Ukranian Sergiy Stakhovsky, who kicked off the clay season practicing with Andy Murray in London, and also had an eye-opening chat with American strength guru Gil Reyes – the man responsible for turning Andre Agassi into one of the finest physical specimens on tour.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova tells us how she inherited her fighting qualities from her basketball-playing Grandma, while we also speak to the world’s second-best wheelchair tennis player, Stephane Houdet, a glass-half-full type character who will be gunning for the Roland Garros crown this June at the age of 40.
As if that wasn’t enough, Mats Wilander talks us through winning his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros at the age of 17 (he was convinced he’d lose 6-0 6-0 6-0 before the 1982 final) and Flavia Pennetta talks about her Wilson stick in our regular ‘Me and My Racket’ feature.
There’s plenty to get your teeth into in our usual academy and gear sections too, not to mention our review of the latest and greatest intermediate rackets on the market, and a comprehensive round up of all the results on the ATP and WTA Tours.
In short, it’s another cracker. Happy reading!
