Tennis on TV Next Week: How you can watch ATP Vienna, WTA Tokyo and much more!

There is plenty more action to sink your teeth into next week, with ATP 500 level tournaments in Vienna and Basel, as well as WTA events in Tokyo and Guangzhou.

How can you watch ATP Vienna?

Perhaps the standout tournament of next week takes place in the Austrian capital, that once again has a strong lineup for its 50th edition.

Top seeds include Alexander Zverev, Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov and Tommy Paul, with the latter three still competing for the remaining qualification spots for the ATP Finals.

However, the event will mostly be catching headlines due to the appearance of former World No.3 Dominic Thiem, who will be playing the final tournament of his career next week.

The 2020 US Open champion won one of his 17 titles at his home tournament back in 2019, and could play the last match of his career against Italian Luciano Darderi on Tuesday.

Some of the other eye-catching first round matches include Jack Draper-Kei Nishikori, Frances Tiafoe-Cameron Norrie and Matteo Berrettini-Marton Fucsovics.

How can you watch WTA Tokyo?

The highest calibre WTA event on show next week is in Tokyo, that sees Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng as the top seed.

After reaching her first WTA 1000 final in Wuhan, Zheng confirmed her qualification to the WTA Finals and this will be the 22-year-old’s final event ahead of the year-end tournament in Riyadh.

Joining Zheng as the top seeds in Tokyo next week are Beatriz Haddad Maia, Ningbo champion Daria Kasatkina and Diana Shnaider, who all receive automatic byes to the second round.

The only former champion returning to Japanese capital this year is last year’s winner Veronika Kudermetova.

Kudermetova is currently at her lowest ranking since 2019 (World No.63) after winning only 40% of her matches this year, and will be hoping to show some of the same form she did last year in Tokyo to climb back up the rankings.

Wildcards in Tokyo have been awarded to Grand Slam champions Bianca Andreescu and Sofia Kenin, Japanese hopeful Nao Hibino and British 15-year-old Mika Stojsavljevic, who won the US Open junior title last month.

How can you watch ATP Basel?

Another historic event taking place next week is on the indoor hard courts of Basel, where ATP Finals hopefuls Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud are the top two seeds.

Neither player has had good form of late, and Ruud in particular will have his work cut out for him with a first round meeting against former top 10 player Roberto Bautista Agut, who is coming off the back of claiming the title in Antwerp.

Some of the other top ranked players in Basel next week include Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Ugo Humbert, Ben Shelton and Arthur Fils.

Roger Federer was known for dominating this tournament with a record 10 titles, but since the events return to the ATP calendar following the Covid-19 pandemic it has been a different name taking home the glory.

Felix Auger-Aliassime defended the Swiss Indoors title last year, and the Canadian will be going for a third consecutive victory as the eighth seed, with Marin Cilic the only other former champion in Basel next week.

How can you watch WTA Guangzhou?

The remaining main tour event taking place is in Guangzhou, China, with Katerina Siniakova, Marie Bouzkova, Yue Yuan and Elina Avanesyan as the top four seeds.

Defending champion Xiyu Wang claimed her only title to date at the WTA 250 tournament last year, and the Chinese No.5 will be hoping to recreate that success once again as she is on the brink of dropping outside the top 100.

Wang is one of two former champions returning to Guangzhou this year, with two-time tournament champion Zhang Shuai receiving a wildcard alongside compatriots Sijia Wei and Han Shi.
