Frances Tiafoe defeated Taylor Fritz on Sunday afternoon to claim his first title of the year.

The American star defeated his compatriot 6-4, 6-4, securing his first Halle Open title.

How many combined major titles will Felix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe win in their careers?

All four players missed out on a golden opportunity to win the French Open…

It was a disappointing result for Fritz, who had beaten the likes of Ben Shelton and Alexander Zverev en route to the final in Germany.

However, all hope is not lost for Taylor Fritz.

The former major finalist has demonstrated great form ahead of Wimbledon and boosted his chances of winning the event after reaching the final in Halle.

Taylor Fritz is now likely to avoid Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon quarter-finals

Prior to the Halle Open, Fritz was ranked ninth on the ATP Tour. He was set to be seeded eighth at Wimbledon due to Carlos Alcaraz’s absence.

Following his efforts in the German city, Fritz has risen two spots to world number seven. This means he will be seeded sixth for this year’s event.

By securing the sixth seed, Fritz’s chances of winning Wimbledon have significantly increased.

If the American had been seeded eighth at Wimbledon, he would have been projected to compete against world number one Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals.

After rising to world number seven, Fritz will most likely avoid playing Sinner in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Sinner, a four-time major champion, is the overwhelming favourite to retain the Wimbledon title he won 12 months ago.

The Italian avenged his loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 French Open final, beating the Spaniard 4–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4 in the Wimbledon final.

Following his rise in the rankings, Fritz will be projected to play third seed Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon last eight, rather than Sinner.
