Swiss star completes Next Gen ATP Finals line-up

Dominic Stricker, 20, has become the eighth and final man to qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan this November.

The world number 129 is the first Swiss to qualify for the history of the event which began in 2017. He joins Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune, Jack Draper, Brandon Nakashima, Jiri Lehecka, Chun-Hsin Tseng and Francesco Passaro.

Musetti, Rune and Nakashima are returning after competing in 2021, with the other five making their debuts. Next Gen ATP Finalls defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will not compete as he has qualified for the ATP Finals proper in Turin.

As a show of their young talent, four of the eight men are former Junior Slam champions. Tseng won the French Open and Wimbledon in 2018, Musetti won the 2019 Australian Open, Rune won the French Open that year, and Stricker won the 2020 French Open.

On the tour, only Musetti and Rune have captured titles, with two each. Musetti won the ATP 500 Hamburg European Open in July before Naples in October. Meanwhile Rune claimed titles in Munich and Stockholm in May and October respectively.

Naples and Stockholm were particularly notable as Musetti defeated 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini in the final and Rune downed Stefanos Tsitsipas in his championship match.
