Stefanos Tsitsipas French Open 2021

Stefanos Tsitsipas best moments at Roland Garros 2021

With Stefanos Tsitsipas set to feature in his second straight Roland Garros semi-final, here is a look at how the Greek made it to the final four.

5. Passes Chardy test

In the opening round, Tsitsipas overcame a French challenge in the form of Jeremy Chardy – eventually prevailing in straight sets.

He saved a set point, and edged through a tiebreak 8-6, to take an important first set – before losing only four more games.

4. Straight sets, but not straightforward

The fifth seed overcame world No. 103 Pedro Martinez in the second round – but was pushed harder than the score suggests.

Tsitsipas came from a break down in the first two sets – and had to save 11 of 15 break points faced to hold off the 24-year-old Spaniard.

3. Survives Isner onslaught

In the third round, the Greek had to withstand a barrage from big-serving No. 31 seed John Isner, who was at his best.

The 36-year-old American took the opening set, but Tsitsipas came through tight second and third sets before cruising through the fourth to win.

2. Too good for Carreno Busta

The world No. 5 eclipsed his previous three performances with a superb 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 fourth round victory against 12th seed Pablo Carreno Busta.

He stormed through the opening two sets, before coming back from 4-2 behind in the third to complete an impressive display against the Spaniard.

1. Overcomes his biggest rival

Few, barring Rafael Nadal, have given Tsitsipas as much trouble as world No. 2 Daniil Medvedev – who had a 6-1 head-to-head going into the quarter-final

The Greek, though, triumphed over his Russian adversary 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 with a high-quality performance – saving two set points in the second set.
