US Open Social Slice: Daniil Medvedev celebration; Emma Raducanu takes trophy home


On today’s social slice, Daniil Medvedev celebrates in style after winning his first Grand Slam and Emma Raducanu says it’s time to take her US Open trophy home.

Firstly, Daniil Medvedev finally tasted his first Major success as he downed Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-4 6-4 6-4.

After dashing Djokovic’s dreams of a Calendar Slam, the Russian celebrated in style with a questionable celebration…

In case you wanted a close up of the new US Open champion…

After making history at the US Open, Emma Raducanu posted on Twitter to say ‘we are taking her home’.

The Brit became the first British female to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade in 1977, and the first qualifier ever to win a Major.

Novak Djokovic walked away from Flushing Meadows empty handed, though earned the respect and love of the US Open faithful following his gut-wrenching defeat.

Whilst it certainly wasn’t his day, it’s definitely been his year after racking up three Grand Slam titles and moving level with both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Lastly, the US Open fans certainly enjoyed themselves during the men’s final, though none more so than Dylan Alcott.

The Australian wheelchair tennis player was caught on camera chugging a beer out of his US Open trophy!
