Linda Noskova had a nearly flawless grass court season this year after winning the Wimbledon title.

Noskova beat Karolina Muchova to claim her first Grand Slam at Wimbledon, concluding a dominant grass court season for the 21-year-old.

This was one of two grass court tournaments she won this year, with Noskova also lifting the Berlin Open title last month.

Noskova has concluded her grass court season with 12 match wins, with only one player able to beat her on the surface in 2026.

Elena-Gabriela Ruse is the only player to beat Linda Noskova on grass this year

Immediately after winning the Berlin Open, Noskova remained in Germany to play at the Bad Homburg Open.

This is where Noskova would face qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the first round, and fatigue appeared to show as she was beaten 6-1, 6-3.

Ruse would make it all the way to the semi-finals of the Bad Homburg Open, and she has also reached a grass court final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch last year.

Despite the Romanian’s clear ability on the surface, Ruse has still never won a main draw match at Wimbledon.

Ruse has made six main draw appearances at Wimbledon in her career, losing in the first round every time.

On five of those occasions, Ruse has been drawn against a seeded opponent, with this year’s first round defeat against Caty McNally the only time she has not.

Although she is winless at the grass court major, Ruse has come very close to winning a match at Wimbledon.

This included Ruse’s Wimbledon main draw debut in 2018, where she had six match points against former finalist Agnieszka Radwanska.

A Wimbledon win continues to elude Ruse, who has won at least one main draw match at all three of the other Grand Slam tournaments.

Linda Noskova saved a match point in the third round of Wimbledon

Noskova’s Wimbledon run showed how impressive her game is on grass, but she nearly lost in the third round of the grass court major this year.

This was against another Romanian opponent in Sorana Cirstea, who had a match point against Noskova in the deciding set.

She's the 2026 Wimbledon champion!

Noskova going all the way at Wimbledon this year means that she is one of only three players in the Open Era to have won the women’s singles title at The Championships after saving a match point.

The Czech is in good company, as Noskova joins both Venus (2005) and Serena Williams (2009) as the only players to have achieved this feat at Wimbledon.

Noskova will now become the world number seven, which is her new career-high ranking after becoming a Grand Slam champion for the first time.
