German Lisicki beat Russian qualifier Alexandra Panova 7-5 6-1 and Slovakian Rybarikova defeated another Russian, Vesna Manasieva, 6-1 7-5.

Ioana Raluca Olaru and Urszula Radwanska were other second-round winners, the former knocking out Ksenia Palkina 2-6 6-3 6-2 and Radwanska posting a 7-5 6-2 victory over Sofia Shapatava.

Dutch qualifier Arantxa Rus came from a set down to bet Vlada Ekshibarova 3-6 6-2 6-1 in the only first-round match of the day.
