Bollettieri, who guided the careers of stars including Andre Agassi, Monica Seles and Maria Sharapova, and has also coached the Williams sisters and Boris Becker, was an eager observer of Robson’s first-round Wimbledon match.
“I was very impressed,” Bollettieri told Radio Wimbledon.
He was there primarily because he has coached Daniela Hantuchova, the Slovakian who clinched a narrow victory over wild-card entry Robson.
But the 15-year-old Briton, who won last year’s girls’ singles title, caught the eye of the veteran American.
He added: “She handled herself extremely well, being 15 years old.
“But remember she has to handle herself, she put herself in that position by being a player who deserved a wild card.
“It reminded me of many years ago at the French Open, when I was with [former player turned television tennis analyst] Mary Carillo and watching this young girl – she was 13.
“(I said) ‘She smells the court, she knows where to be and she controls herself – it was Martina Hingis.”
