Junior Wimbledon champion Laura Robson is to be sponsored by the official soft drink of the Championships, Robinsons.
The company announced on Thursday its backing of the 15-year-old junior world No.1 who shot to fame last July when she won the girls singles in SW19.
As part of her arrangement with the drinks giant, the left-handed teenager will benefit from Tim Henmans guidance as she prepares to join the womens tour.
I am very proud to be associated with Robinsons due to its long-standing association with Wimbledon, said Robson, who reached the final of the Australian Open girls singles early this year.
Ive grown up drinking Robinsons squash at home and from a young age I have watched my idols on court at Wimbledon drinking it at changeovers, so I am very excited to be joining the Robinsons family.
Robinsons has a history of supporting British players after sponsoring Henman since the start of his career in 1998.
The six-time Grand Slam semi-finalist still works closely with the company to promote tennis and will offer mentoring to Robson as she develops her game.
The youngster has been experiencing injury problems recently, but is now back on court preparing for her next event, the under-18 clay court Bonfiglio Trophy in Milan, before concentrating on the girls singles at the French Open in late May.
The focus this year was always going to be on the junior Grand Slams, with one or two appearances in senior tournaments thrown in at appropriate times, Abigail Tordoff, Robson’s agent, told the Independent.
This is also a big year for her in terms of her school work. She’s sitting a GCSE this summer and has a lot of work to do on that.
