Rafael Nadal named as Davis Cup Finals lineups announced
Rafael Nadal has been picked by captain David Ferrer as part of the Spanish Davis Cup Finals team, as a potential reunion with Carlos Alcaraz looms.
Nadal has not competed since the Paris Olympics, where he played singles and doubles with Alcaraz, having recently withdrawn from the Laver Cup.
This followed with the aforementioned Ferrer suggesting that there was a ‘possibility’ that Nadal could return for the Davis Cup, and now that potential has been confirmed.
The Spanish lineup consists of Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, 22-time major winner Nadal, Pablo Carreno Busta and doubles World No.1 Marcel Granollers.

Spain will be the home favourites for their quarter-final tie against the Netherlands, with the knockout stages of the Davis Cup being held in Malaga.
The Davis Cup Finals take place between 19th and 24th November.
Inside the baseline…
It is great to see Rafael Nadal as part of the Spanish Davis Cup team, with it giving an indicator as to where his current physical capabilities are at. However, there is always this uncertainty around any Nadal participation, as the Spaniard has withdrawn from numerous tournaments over the past couple of years. Whether this is going to be Nadal’s final event is yet to be known, but what a way to go out it would be representing your nation in front of your home fans.
