Rafael Nadal Laver Cup 2022

Rafael Nadal offers fans ‘big hug’ with update on birth of son

Rafael Nadal has assured fans that all is good with his family after wife Xisca gave birth to a baby boy.

The 22-time Slam champion has not played since the Laver Cup in late September. His last ranking tournament appearance came in his fourth round loss to Frances Tiafoe at the US Open.

Since London, Nadal has been home with his wife in anticipation of the birth of their child. With their son born, Nadal has now broken his silence on Twitter.

“Hello everyone. After a few days and many loving messages I just wanted to thank you all! We are very happy and everyone is very well! A big hug,” he tweeted.

The final Masters event of the season kicks off in Paris on 31st October, one of three Masters events Rafael Nadal is yet to capture. It is unclear whether the Spaniard will compete in France. He has also qualified for the ATP Finals beginning in Turin on 13th November for an 18th consecutive time.

Again, it is not certain that Nadal will compete for that title. ATP CEO Andrea Gaudenzi is confident the world number two will compete given it is one of the few big titles he is yet to clinch.

Rafael Nadal reached the final of the event in 2010 and 2013. He lost to Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic respectively on those occasions. The latter will compete in Turin after ensuring a top 20 finish with his title win in Astana last week.
