Rafa Nadal identifies the key factor that has given him confidence going into US Open semi-final

Rafa Nadal will play in the semi-final of the US Open for the 7th time and he will do so with extra confidence as he confirmed the reason in his post match interview

Rafa Nadal says that he’s full of confidence thanks to the two matches he’s won against Marin Cilic and Diego Schwartzman in the 4th round and quarter final respectively of the 2019 US Open.

Nadal was speaking in his post match interview last night after a tough but ultimately convincing win over the diminutive Argentine, when he was asked how he felt about playing Matteo Berrettini in the semi finals.

“This match (against Schwartzman) gives me some confidence. I needed two matches like the one against Cilic and again today. Both victories are so important for me and now is the moment to keep going. A day off tomorrow then some practise and I’ll hope to be 100% for the semi-final”

World No.2 and US Open second seed Nadal beat the Argentine world No.21 Diego Schwartzman 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 to reach the semi final of the US Open mens singles where he will play Italian Matteo Berrettini.

Nadal was ahead in all but one of the key performance indicators in his match with Schwartzman, the only stat he was behind was unforced errors.
