Emma Raducanu US Open 2021

Emma Raducanu working alongside former British number one at Indian Wells

US Open champion Emma Raducanu has been spotted working with former British number one Jeremy Bates ahead of the Masters 1000 event at Indian Wells.

The 18-year-old star was guided by Nigel Sears in her run to the fourth round at Wimbledon before returning to her former coach Andrew Richardson in her history-making US Open win.

Following her heroics at Flushing Meadows, Raducanu decided to part ways with Richardson with her new coach expected to be announced at the end of the year ahead of the Australian Open in 2022.

On her arrival at Indian Wells, her first event since lifting the US Open title, the British number one was filmed practising with  Bates.

According to multiple sources, Bates confirmed he will be assisting Raducanu in conjunction with his work as the coach for Katie Boulter, and started on court with the New York champion on Saturday.

Whilst he and Raducanu know each other well due to his role as the Lawn Tennis Association’s national women’s coach, it  appears their arrangement will be short-term during her search for a permanent appointment.

The world number 22 will look for a new coach ahead of her first full season on tour after only making her WTA debut in June 2021.
