Sixth-seeded Petzschner needed little time to finish the job of beating Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos – a game that started yesterday – and advanced 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 6-2.

Querrey, seeded third, converted four of his seven break points in beating Spain’s 6-3 6-2 inside an hour. He will now face 2008 runner-up Prakash Amritraj in the next round.

Fellow American Alex Bogomolov Jr also went through, coming from behind to beat Arnaud Clement of France 1-6 6-3 6-4.

Bogomolov Jr will face another Frenchman, Nicolas Mahut, in the next round after he beat American Amer Delic 6-4 6-4.
