Queen’s Club welcomes women’s tennis back with elite lineup

Madison Keys, Naomi Osaka, Katie Boulter, and Emma Raducanu lead the lineup for the historic Queen’s Club WTA 500 event in June, marking the return of women’s tennis to the venue after over 50 years.

Women’s professional tennis is set to make a historic return to The Queen’s Club this June with the inaugural HSBC Championships, a WTA 500 event running from June 7th to 15th. This is the first women’s tournament at the iconic London venue since 1973. The event boasts a stellar lineup, including recent Australian Open champion Madison Keys, four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka, British No.1 Katie Boulter, and former US Open champion Emma Raducanu.

Madison Keys, who clinched her maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January, expressed her enthusiasm: “I can’t wait for the HSBC Championships. Getting to compete there for the first time and experience playing at The Queen’s Club is going to be such a special occasion.”

Katie Boulter, who achieved a career-high ranking of No.23 in 2024, shared her excitement: “I used to watch the tournament every year growing up, so to be able to compete at such a wonderful, historic, and iconic event to commence the grass court season is an honour.”

Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, is also set to grace the grass courts at Queen’s Club. After a strong comeback from injury last year, highlighted by semifinal and quarterfinal appearances at Nottingham and Eastbourne respectively, Raducanu looks forward to competing on home soil once again.

Tournament Director Laura Robson expressed her excitement about the event: “I’m thrilled to confirm Katie, Emma, Madison, and Naomi will be headlining the HSBC Championships in June. Fans will see some of the best female players on the planet, and with three Grand Slam champions and the British number one in the mix, it promises to be a spectacular return to The Queen’s Club for women’s tennis.”

Tickets for the HSBC Championships are now on general sale via the LTA website, starting from £20, or you can choose an exclusive VIP experience package through Official Hospitality Partner Keith Prowse. This event signifies a significant milestone in British tennis, offering fans an opportunity to witness world-class women’s tennis at one of the sport’s most historic venues.

Inside the Baseline…

Some tournaments carry a weight beyond the matches played on their courts, and this one feels like a long-overdue shift. Grass season has always had a distinct rhythm, but adding a premier women’s event to Queen’s injects a new energy into the lead-up to Wimbledon. There’s something fitting about seeing players like Keys, Boulter, and Raducanu stepping onto the same storied courts that have shaped so many careers. A stage like this isn’t just about tradition; it’s about evolution, and this return feels like the start of something bigger.
