Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal drop major US Open hint as Cincinnati announce stellar line-up

The Cincinatti Open has unveiled a star-studded entry list including Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, although how many will actually play remains unclear.

Uncertainty currently surrounds tournaments in America due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and the potential impact they could have on player’s hoping to play in Europe following the US Open.

Those problems saw the Citi Open in Washington cancelled last week, although the US Open remains adamant they are proceeding as normal.

Cincinnati is scheduled to be the first ATP Tournament since March, and has been moved to Flushing Meadows in New York for safety purposes. Players who take part in the Cincinnati Open are almost certain to also play the US Open, so it is a potentially eye-opening list.

They have revealed a stellar line-up for the players, with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal joined by Dominic Thiem, defending champion Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Alexander Zverev.

Former winners Grigor Dimitrov and Marin Cilic are also in the draw. Kevin Anderson and Nick Kyrgios are also on the list, although Andy Murray isn’t.

The WTA line-up is just as impressive, with defending champion Madison Keys joined by former winners Karolina Pliskova, Kiki Bertens, Serena Williams, and Garbine Muguruza.

Teenage sensation and current Tennishead Magazine cover star Coco Gauff is also in the field, although Naomi Osaka and Ashleigh Barty are absent.
