Paris Masters 2022 Novak Djokovic Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic has almost twice as many finals as Rafael Nadal

In 2007, Novak Djokovic established himself by reaching his first Major final and competing in three Masters 1000 championship matches. All of this happened on a hard court, and it was obvious that tennis had a new star on its most popular surface.

After fifteen years, Novak is one of the most accomplished players on hard, having won multiple important tournaments and set countless records. With so many triumphs in his career, it is no wonder that Novak Djokovic is one of the athletes that gamblers bet on regularly at mobile casinos in Australia.

Professional Succes of the Serbian Tennis Player

The Serb tops the list with 37 hard-court Masters 1000 finals, three more than Roger Federer and 17 more than Rafael Nadal! Novak reached his 56th Masters 1000 final and 37th on the hard court a few weeks back at the Paris Masters. Djokovic reached his eighth final in Paris, aiming for his seventh win, but fell to Holger Rune after capturing the first set. We bet that you have most probably watched that iconic match or even wagered on it at top online casinos from BestAuCasinosOnline ratings. Given that some professional tennis players love to gamble, tennis fans are even more passionate about supporting their favorite athletes.

Novak began the match against Maxime Cressy, winning 7-6, 6-4 in one hour and 43 minutes. Djokovic dropped six points after the opening stroke but maintained pressure on the opposite side. The American smashed 15 aces and over 50 net rushes, desperate to retain the points on his racquet. Cressy survived four of five break opportunities and led 4-3 in the second set before Djokovic broke and fired off three straight games to take the lead.

Novak Djokovic Has Appeared in 37 Masters 1000 Finals on Hard Courts

In the third round, the Serb defeated Karen Khachanov 6-4, 6-1 to go to the quarter-finals. Djokovic defeated Khachanov for the eighth time in nine encounters, with the one setback coming four years ago in the Paris Masters final. Novak dropped service once and broke four times in eight chances to control the scoreboard and fly into the final eight without tiring.

The six-time winner won 6-0, 6-3 in 74 minutes over young Italian Lorenzo Musetti to advance to the semi-finals, becoming the first player with 50 Masters 1000 indoor wins! Novak won the first set quickly and had an early break in the second to secure a decisive victory.

Seeking a spot in his ninth Paris Masters final, Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 in the finale. Novak was three points from losing in the decisive tiebreak before triumphing. Djokovic overcame that challenge but fell short of the final match against Holger Rune, a 19-year-old from Denmark, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. The Serb led by a break in the last set before succumbing to two breaks and delivering the victory to a youngster.

Novak Djokovic Extends Lead Over Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic keep many Masters 1000 records. The famed three raised the standard and accomplished feats that will be difficult to match in the future. Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer are the only players with 50 Masters 1000 finals, having competed in 159 total and standing six each.

Djokovic has surpassed his primary competitors in recent years, amassing a total of 56 Masters 1000 finals, three more than Rafael Nadal. He reached his first Masters 1000 final in 2007, and he is still more than competitive 15 years later. This year, the Serb competed in two title bouts, winning in Rome and placing second in Paris.
