Novak Djokovic - Australian Open injury warning from Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic gives huge Australian Open hint

The ongoing ‘will he, won’t he’ saga as to whether Novak Djokovic can and indeed will play at the Australian Open has seemingly swung in favour of the world No.1 entering the first Grand Slam of the year.

Novak Djokovic has been filmed practising on a blue court of the same surface used in Melbourne for the Australian Open whist hitting the actual Dunlop Australian Open tennis balls.

The video was posted by the Soto Tennis Academy in Marbella of Djokovic practising hard today in Spain seemingly replicating the exact conditions he will face at the Australian Open in Melbourne which starts in just two weeks time.

So far Djokovic hasn’t confirmed his COVID vaccination status but if he were to play in Australia he would either need to have been vaccinated or to have received a medical exemption. However that exemption route was seemingly closed to him earlier this week which means that if he Serbian were to play in Australia then would have to have also received the COVID vaccine.

Djokovic’s arch rival Rafa Nadal, who sits on the same number of Grand Slam singles titles as the Serb, is almost definitely playing the Australian Open which means that if Djokovic doesn’t compete this month then the Spaniard will have a great opportunity to take the lead in the race to be hailed the GOAT.
