Nick Kyrgios has signed up for another event as he looks to return to tennis during the grass court season.

Kyrgios has not played since his first round doubles defeat at the Australian Open, and it has been even longer since his last singles match in Brisbane.

Despite only playing seven singles matches in the past four years, Kyrgios has entered grass court tournaments in Stuttgart, Halle and Mallorca.

Not only has Kyrgios received a wildcard for the ATP tournament in Halle, but he has also been announced to play a new exhibition event there.

Nick Kyrgios announced to play ‘One Point Trophy’ event in Halle

The Halle Open have announced the introduction of the ‘One Point Trophy’ exhibition event this year.

This event will see players compete over just one point, with the eventual champion being rewarded with €5,000.

Kyrgios is the only player to have been announced for the event so far, which will take place on June 14, one day before the main draw of the ATP 500 tournament gets underway.

This appears to come as a direct response to the Australian Open, who had the ‘One Point Slam’ this year.

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff all featured in the very popular event that was eventually won by amateur Jordan Smith.

How did Nick Kyrgios perform at the Australian Open’s ‘One Point Slam’?

Kyrgios also featured at the ‘One Point Slam’ in Melbourne earlier this year, and he will perhaps be hoping for a better outcome in Halle.

The former Wimbledon finalist won his points against amateur Steve Yarwood and ATP player Andrey Rublev, but Kyrgios fell in the third round.

Coming up against WTA player Joanna Garland, Kyrgios hit a backhand return long of the baseline and then jokingly smashed his racket.

Kyrgios will be hoping for a better result in Halle, where he is the only player to have been announced so far.

Before playing in Halle, Kyrgios is scheduled to make his return to ATP competition in Stuttgart, where the tournament begins on June 8.
