“Needs to improve his speed” Former world No.4 delivers Andy Murray advice
Tim Henman says fellow Brit tennis star Andy Murray needs to play more matches and needs to work on his movement if his comeback from injury is to continue
Andy Murray had come in for some strong criticism following a disappointing straight sets loss to Stan Wawrinka in the opening round of the 2020 French Open. Now Henman, himself the winner of 11 ATP Tour titles, thinks that Murray has to play as much tournament tennis as possible because no-one knows what will happen during the current pandemic.
Henman, who is working for Eurosport throughout the tournament, was asked what he thought Murray should do next when he said, “For me, my advice would be to try and get as many matches as you can between now and the end of the year. He still needs to build up the consistency in competition to continue to improve his movement and his speed. But also his recovery after these tough matches. In the short-term, who knows what tournaments he will be able to play, with the present circumstances and then hopefully he’ll be able to build on that early next year.”
