Nadal is “protecting his opportunity to win a Slam” reveals Australian Open Boss during update
Rafa Nadal is injured but still practising in attempt to be fit to overtake roger Federer in the race to be called the GOAT
Craig Tiley, The Australian open Tournament Director, was quizzed over the worrying situation with the No.2 seed Nadal when he said,
“I see Rafa every day. He practised for 90 minutes today. Out of extra caution he chose not to play the ATP Cup even though Spain have made the semi finals. I’m sure he’ll show up and support his team. He’s indicated he’ll be ready for the Australian Open on Monday. He’s protecting his opportunity to win a 21st Grand Slam singles title. He’s tied with Roger on 20 with Novak 3 behind. There’s a race in the men’s game to be the all time leader”
Nadal has received a favourable daw in the men’s singles at this years Australian Open and will be able to reach the final without having to play either Novak Djokovic or Dominic Thiem, the two other outstanding candidates to triumph in Melbourne this year.
