World No.2 and reigning French Open champion Rafa Nadal has delighted fans by entering a famous pre-Wimbledon exhibition event in a sign that’s he’s taking Wimbledon as seriously as ever this year
Nadal will join a mix of high-profile players on Centre Court including; Kevin Anderson, Nick Kyrgios, Marin Cilic, Lucas Pouille, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Marcos Baghdatis, as well as two of tennis’s most promising junior players Martin Damm and Carlos Alcaraz.
Nadal, who has played at The Hurlingham Club on seven previous occasions, will play on Wednesday 26th and Friday 28th June as he makes his final preparations for Wimbledon.
Nadal has won Wimbledon twice in 2008 and 2010 and will surely be looking to make it a third mens singles title this year but he faces an incredibly strong field. Great rivals Federer and Djokovic will both be in London for The Championships plus established young challengers such as Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Nadal will be joined by some veterans of the game at Hurlingham for the exhibition event including Greg Rusedski, Mark Philippoussis, Thomas Enqvist, Mikael Pernfors and Mansour Bahrami.
Nadal said: “I am always happy to play at The Hurlingham Club and be close to UK tennis fans. It is a prestigious ground in one of the best settings in the UK, making it the perfect way to warm up for Wimbledon.”
