Nadal and Djokovic to return to Monte Carlo Masters

The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters have released the official list of players for the 2021 tournament, including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and newly crowned world No. 2, Daniil Medvedev.

Other top players set to join the headliners of Nadal and Djokovic are Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev, while Roger Federer is as of yet unconfirmed. With the 2020 tournament cancelled due to the pandemic, fans will no doubt be itching to see the best back on the stunning courts of the Monte Carlo Country Club in April.

Nadal recently announced his withdrawal from the Miami Masters as he continues to battle with a back injury, meaning the Monte Carlo Masters looks set to be the Spaniard’s next time out on tour.

Dominic Thiem also made the decision to withdraw from Miami in order to ‘reset for the clay season’, with Monte Carlo likely to be his first stint out on the dirt.

The second Masters 1000 tournament of 2021 will run from 11-18 April. Fabio Fognini is the defending champion from 2019, with Nadal holding the three previous titles and Djokovic winning in 2015.
