‘My game is just getting better and better with each match,’ says Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu says she is growing with confidence with every match she plays at the US Open as she looks to go one step further than she did at Wimbledon.
The 18-year-old, who demolished Sara Sorribes Tormo in her third round 6-0, 6-1, now faces home favourite Shelby Rogers in her fourth round encounter.
The Brit burst onto the scene at Wimbledon two months ago on her Grand Slam debut, though could now achieve her best Major finish should she beat the American.
Raducanu says she will use Rogers’ home advantage as extra motivation ahead of the crunch clash on Monday.
“The match hasn’t even started and Shelby is playing at home,” said Raducanu.
“I think not playing in front of your home crowd, you have a different level of motivation. I’m pretty motivated for any situation that I’m thrown into.”
“From my own perspective, I’m playing better tennis here than I did at Wimbledon. Being on the hard courts, they’re less forgiving than the grass.
“But I think with the amount of matches I’ve played and the experience that I have accumulated in the last four or five weeks, my game is just getting better and better with each match.
“Having so many matches, you just feel so confident, going on to court, in your game.”
