Emma Raducanu has been working in the shadows over the past month, with her last match coming at the start of March.
Initially forced to miss events due to illness, it seems like the length of her lay-off has actually inspired her to take some time for herself, away from the public eye.
Given how heavily scrutinised the Brit has been ever since she burst onto the scene, this should come as no surprise.
Emma Raducanu is arguably one of the sport’s most criticised players, with harsh words seemingly ringing with every decision she makes.
It’s unlikely that those detractors will go away after this latest coaching revelation.
Emma Raducanu’s coaching plan for the clay season has been revealed
After all, following news that Raducanu has started working with a familiar face, this latest update from The Express actually outlines the planned time period that she will work with Andrew Richardson.
They suggest that there are no plans for this coach, with whom she won the US Open alongside nearly five years ago, to stay by her side for the rest of the clay-court season.
Where do you think Emma Raducanu will finish 2026 ranked?
This makes their reunion a short-lived one, given there are just a few weeks left before Roland Garros gets underway.
Raducanu has enjoyed a brief training stint in Spain, but has since returned to the National Tennis Centre in London. She has a history of returning to her old coaches for advice, having had multiple stints with Mark Petchey.
Raducanu is expected to return to action at the Italian Open this month.
Fran Jones explains why she ‘feels for’ Emma Raducanu
Although they may not spend all that much time together, it does feel like there is a camaraderie surrounding the British women.
After all, despite all of them constantly vying to be the best in the country, Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal and even Fran Jones seem to push one another on to be better.
Jones’ latest claim about Raducanu reinforces this notion, whilst speaking to The Times about her own incredible story.
Sonay Kartal is now Britain’s best WTA player… do you agree? 🤔

Briefly touching on the 2021 US Open winner, she actually expressed sympathy for the 23-year-old, explaining how the fame earned from such a historic victory has unfairly shaped media perception in the years that followed.
Jones claimed: “Her story just highlights how social media and the spotlight and a lack of guidance at times has put her in the position where it’s relentless. I feel for her because it affects the ability to trust. You’re forced to become cocooned.”
The reaction to this latest coaching story will be indicative of Jones’ suggestion.
