Matteo Berrettini withdraws from upcoming Paris Masters
World number seven Matteo Berrettini has withdrawn from the upcoming Paris Masters due to some stiffness in his neck.
The Italian star, who has already secured his spot in the prestigious ATP Finals in Turin, lost a closely fought encounter against Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-final in Vienna on Friday.
On Saturday, the Wimbledon finalist took to social media to announce his withdrawal from the event in the French capital, as he looks to ensure he is fully fit for his ATP Finals bow on home soil.
“I have had some stiffness in my neck over the last few days so have decided to withdraw from Paris Bercy,” the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram.
“I would like to make sure I am 100% ready to compete in Torino for the ATP Finals. Thanks for all the support and see you in Torino.”
So far this year, Berrettini boosts a record of 39 wins and 10 losses and has two titles to his name at Queens and in Belgrade on the clay.
