‘Let’s make this quick!’ – Iga Swiatek in a hurry on and off Wimbledon Centre Court with Rafael Nadal on show

Iga Swiatek has just kept rolling at Wimbledon as she registered yet another straight sets victory in her remarkable winning run of 36 consecutive victories.

The Pole downed Croatian qualifier Jana Fett 6-0, 6-3 in not much more than an hour to open Centre Court play on Tuesday in lieu of retired defending champion Ash Barty.

In a turn that may have flustered her, Swiatek played ahead of her idol Rafael Nadal on the main arena at Wimbledon.

Tennishead pointed out to the world number one that Rafa was playing as she was in her post-match press conference, asking if we were holding her up from watching his contest.

She responded: “That’s true.

“Let’s make it quick,” she added laughing.

“Basically it’s a huge privilege that I was chosen as the one to open [Centre Court].

“It wasn’t obvious because obviously Ash would be opening if she was here.

“There are many great champions in the draw.

“I’m pretty happy it was a good match from me and a good performance for sure.”

Immediately post win Swiatek admitted she was certainly still focused on her own work.

However, as soon as she had her routines done, she added that she would catch Nadal on television.

She finished, smiling: “I’m going to watch later, for sure, unless he’s going to finish in like an hour.”

It will be back-to-back qualifier opponents for Swiatek as she takes on Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove of The Netherlands in the second round on Thursday.
