Maja Chwalinska will have to wait patiently to see if she will receive a wildcard at Wimbledon.
Chwalinska lost to Mirra Andreeva in the Roland Garros final, bringing an end to her breakthrough run from qualifying.
Due to being ranked outside the top 100 at the time of the entry list cut-off, Chwalinska does not have direct entry into Wimbledon this year, despite now being set to climb up to world number 21.
Wimbledon have a big dilemma about whether to give Chwalinska a wildcard, and now she has confirmed if she expects to get one.

The Wimbledon wildcard conversation surrounding Chwalinska has been a hot debate throughout her surprise run to the Roland Garros final, so it was of no surprise that she was asked about it in her post-match press conference after losing to Andreeva.
Chwalinska responded by admitting that she does not expect to receive a Wimbledon wildcard, as she looked ahead to the new challenge
βI mean, that would be the news of the century. I honestly donβt expect it,β answered Chwalinska. But I mean Iβll see, I will treat it as a challenge. Itβs a new surface, I donβt have much time.
βBut I will give my all and we will see. I am excited. Grass is always a nice change.β

As well as not expecting a wildcard for Wimbledon, Chwalinska has also confirmed that she is not planning to play any grass court tournaments after a busy three weeks in Paris.
βI am not going to play anything before Wimbledon, thatβs for sure,β added Chwalinska. βI need some time to recharge.
βEven before Roland Garros I said I needed a vacation so now itβs like three weeks that I am kind of like, not waiting because I wanted to be here, but I knew in the back of my head I am going for a vacation after the French Open. So I definitely need some time to recharge and I am only going to play Wimbledon this year.β
Chwalinska won her first ever Grand Slam main draw match at Wimbledon in 2022, and she had not won another one until Roland Garros this year, but would be seeded if she received a wildcard for the grass court major.

As well as the huge improvement in her ranking, Chwalinska will also receive a huge β¬1,400,000 for reaching the Roland Garros final, which is over 14 times the total amount of prize money she had earned in her career before this tournament.
Chwalinska was also asked about how she expects her life to change now with this newfound status, ranking and financial gain.
βI guess I will see. It will be different, for sure. I think and I hope that I will adapt,β responded Chwalinska.
βI definitely will work hard, as I am working hard. I will give my all to be better each and every day. I will see what the results will be. Definitely, I am very grateful for this time but itβs in the past now so I just need to continue to stay present and give my all to be a better player every day.β
Chwalinska will be the world number 21 after Roland Garros, and she is placed even higher in the race to the WTA Finals at 14th.
