Chatting with reporters, the 24-year-old began by explaining that she was tired before the match, but it did not impact her play: “It’s normal.

“I was tired but I feel like everyone would be and everyone is. We are playing so many matches.

“All credit to Mirra, she is such an incredible player. She is so solid. She handled the conditions much, much better than me. 100% she deserved to win today, for sure.”

Then, discussing the morning of the final and her nerves leading up to it, Chwalinska added: “I did everything that I have been doing for the last three weeks but definitely nerves were there. “I am actually just excited to have finished the tournament and maybe the joy of eating will come back.”

Chwalinska spoke about getting a Wimbledon wildcard after the match too, in what will remain the overwhelming talking point heading into that next major event.
