Lucas Pouille announces his 2019 season is over due to injury

French star Lucas Pouille has succumbed to a right elbow injury which has forced him to cancel the rest of his season

Lucas Pouille is the No.2 ranked Frenchman and the No. 19 in the world but he won’t play any more tennis this year which means he’ll miss out on his home countries Masters 1000 tournament in Paris later this month.

Pouille said on his Twitter account earlier today, “Disappointed to announce that my 2019 season is over. ? Following doctors orders regarding the situation of my right elbow. I’ll now focus on healing and then bouncing back stronger in 2020. See you guys soon, thanks for the support”

Pouille’s season got of to an incredible start when he made it through to the semi final of the Australian Open in January but since then his results haven’t lived up to that early promise. He did manage to win a lower level Challenger event but hasn’t made any deep runs in the main tour tournamwnts.

Pouille will be rightly frustrated as his world ranking of 19 is the highest it’s been since his career high of 10 back in March 2018.
