Llodra crashes out

The Frenchman, who knocked out Britain’s Josh Goodall in the first round, raced across court to the net for a half-volley early in the match and could not slow down, resulting in the accident.
Llodra, 29, went crashing into the ball girl, who had been crouching between a player’s courtside seat and the umpire’s elevated chair. The young girl appeared shaken but not injured, after being sandwiched between 6ft 3in Llodra and the umpire’s chair, and it was Llodra who came off the worst.
Although he apologised and gave the ball girl a crowd-pleasing hug, Llodra required medical attention and had to retire from the match at 4-3 behind in the first set, allowing Germany’s 24th seed Haas to advance to the last 32.
