The fourth-seeded German proved too strong for local wild card Dilyara Saidkhodjaeva as she raced to a 6-0 6-1 victory.

Fifth seed Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia also won in straight sets, 6-4 6-4, in her clash with Germany’s Kathrin Woerle.

In Monday’s only other match, Sofia Shapatava of Georgia battled to a 6-3 4-6 6-4 victory over Frenchwoman Kinnie Laisne.
