Jack Draper hired Andy Murray as his new coach over a month ago now, but we are yet to see them truly link up on the professional circuit.
After all, due to the player’s injury woes continuing, the tennis world has been deprived of seeing this legendary British partnership truly come to life.
Laura Robson has been discussing this sensational union, outlining her excitement for when they can really get going.
However, talking to Sky Sports, she also expressed some reservations surrounding the decision as well.
Laura Robson previews Andy Murray’s coaching partnership with Jack Draper
Robson began by assessing the two ways she thinks this partnership could go.
She admitted: “In some way it’s really beneficial that Andy’s in his corner, but in other ways it’s more pressure as well.”
How excited are you for Andy Murray to join Jack Draper’s team?
What a signing!
Robson then expanded on her theory: ”I don’t know which way I’m leaning towards still because there’s going to be so much attention now on that first match back, wherever it may be. That probably isn’t going to feel great, considering he’s not played a lot of tennis. It’s been a tough time with injuries over the last almost a year now.
“To know, going in, that you’re expected by pretty much everyone to be playing well probably adds another layer to it, but I haven’t quite decided which way I’m leaning there yet.”
Given the fact that, ever since Draper announced he’d be working with Murray, he has been injured, we are yet to see whether her theory will be proved correct.
When is Jack Draper due to return from injury?
Whilst the tennis world is naturally excited to see Jack Draper and Andy Murray link up on the elite stage, they continue to be thwarted by the former’s injury.
After all, they announced their union a month ago now, and yet the 24-year-old has been unable to play an ATP event since.
Who is to blame for Jack Draper’s injury issues?
The Englishman was due to play Queen’s next week, but again has been forced to withdraw, leaving his fitness in doubt as Wimbledon draws ever closer.
However, in Draper’s statement about withdrawing from Queen’s, he insisted that Eastbourne would be the site of his first match on tour since he retired from the Barcelona Open in April.
