Kleybanova, Makarova progress

Second seed Kleybanova beat Slovenian qualifier Polona Hercog 6-3 6-4.

Makarova, seeded six, enjoyed a similarly smooth passage into the last four with a 6-4 6-4 success over Marta Domachowska of Poland.

Top seed Anabel Medina Garrigues was made to sweat before booking her place in the next round, battling past fellow Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino 7-6 (7/5) 7-6 (7/5).

She will now face Hungary’s Melinda Czink, who won her quarter-final with Czech Republic’s Lucie Hradecka 6-4 6-2.
